Ukrnafta is constructing another new exploration well in western Ukraine.

The work is being carried out using the Company’s own rig, the same one that was used to drill the previous well in the same region.

The total depth of the new directional well is 2,213 m. More than a thousand metres have been drilled to date.

“The facility should provide access to two production horizons at once,” Sergii Koretskyi, CEO of Ukrnafta, says. “According to the digital 3D geological and hydrodynamic model of the field, there are 464,000 tonnes of recoverable reserves at a greater depth. The deeper horizon has 1.121 million tonnes of reserves.”

Thus, when the resource is extracted from the deeper horizon and production volumes decline, it will be possible to return higher and give new life to the well with its workover.

This approach will help the Company to make more efficient use of the existing process resource.
