Tetyana Pidhorodetska originates from Nadvirna. There, she attended the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum, after which she enrolled at the Ivano-Frankivsk University of Oil and Gas to study geophysics. 

After graduating, she worked for about a year in Kyiv at the State Geophysical Enterprise “Ukrgeofizika” in her field, and in 2004 she returned to the Ivano-Frankivsk region and joined UKRNAFTA. At the same time, many young professionals joined the company – from different cities, companies, with varying levels of initial professional experience. “A lot of young people joined us. It was interesting to work together,” she recalls. 

In 2019, Tetiana became a lead geophysicist, and in 2020, she moved to the Geology and Development Department. It was there that her work became even more closely tied to geology, a field that had interested her from the very beginning of her professional career. 

Today, our colleague is dealing with data collected during well logging. Special equipment run in the well record numerous physical rock properties, including electrical resistivity, natural radioactivity, and acoustic wave propagation parameters. These surveys produce logging curves, which supply geophysicists with large amounts of information about the subsurface. 

Tetyana's job is to assess this data, track the presence of key formations in the cross-section, locate potential tectonic faults, and get a more precise picture of the field's geological structure. 

These results are then combined with data from geologists and become part of the geological reservoir mode. The model, in turn, helps specialists evaluate promising areas, identify by-passed reserves, and determine the spots for further operations. 

“The more accurate the lithological and stratigraphic columns are, the more reliable the model will be,” she says, briefly describing the significance of her work. 

Tetyana claims that the team has changed over the last two decades, with new specialists joining and the work structure evolving. At the same time, several of the people she began working with in 2004 remain by her side. Today, she particularly values working alongside professionals who know their fields well and are eager to bring their ideas to life. 

Outside of work, she enjoys travelling and exploring new places. One of her most recent trips was to Spain. She also enjoys active winter sports, such as skiing with her younger daughter. 

Tetyana recently went on a one-day hike in the highlands near Mykulychyn with her colleagues. However, after many years of working together, she finds it difficult to think of them as just colleagues.
