Ukrnafta is developing its engineering solutions to improve the efficiency of well workovers and reduce reliance on external service providers. This allows for better control over costs and project terms.
One example is the hydro-vacuum bailer (HVB), developed by the KRS-Service subsidiary in collaboration with UNPS.
The tool is used to clean wellbores and bottomhole under challenging conditions of low reservoir pressures, when standard cleaning methods prove ineffective.
The operating principle involves creating a vacuum effect after the tool is run into the well. This allows for the removal of cuttings, sand, metal debris, and other mechanical contaminants without lengthy flushing cycles or the need to engage specialised contractors.
Prior to introducing this proprietary solution, such operations required more time and additional costs. Now, cleaning is faster, with less operational impact on the formation and better preparation of the well for subsequent operations. The tool has already been used during the workovers in twelve wells and two wells completed with drilling to flush back proppant after hydraulic fracturing, which reduced the duration of operations and optimised costs.
Importantly, the Company can manufacture hydro-vacuum bailers in-house. This means greater operational autonomy and the ability to scale solutions without relying on external suppliers.
