PJSC “Ukrnafta” will build a shunting power generation facility with the support of the EBRD

PJSC “Ukrnafta” will start construction of the shunting power generation facilities with the support of the EBRD. In the medium term, this will help support Ukraine's energy system, which has suffered from attacks by Russian terrorists.

Today, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has signed a memorandum with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso stating that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will accumulate EUR 300 million to support Ukraine's energy sector.

These funds will be distributed among state-owned energy companies, including PJSC “Ukrnafta”.

“We are talking about the construction of a new, more efficient and environmentally friendly distribution generation. These are gas-piston and gas-turbine thermal power plants, whose operation, in particular, will contribute to covering the lost capacity”, said Sergii Koretskyi, CEO at UKRNAFTA.

The launch of new energy activities is an organic step of the company to expand the value chain, when electricity is sold directly rather than gas as a commodity. This concept is part of ESG strategy of PJSC “Ukrnafta”.
