Oksana Kosmirak is originally from Halych in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.  At school, she imagined her future very differently — she wanted to become a doctor.  The oil industry was barely discussed among her circle, but towards the end of her studies, she became interested in something new — related to computers and technology.  That is how she enrolled at the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas to study automation of technological processes. 

 After university, she did not start working immediately: she devoted some time to her family and young child.  She joined the team in 2004 and began her career in the information support department. 

Today, Oksana is a senior engineer in the user technical support department. Her team's work begins the moment an employee receives a computer and continues throughout the lifecycle of the equipment: configuring hardware, installing software, connecting printers and other devices, providing consultations, and resolving technical issues.

Every day, the team processes requests and helps employees from various departments resolve issues that could halt or complicate their daily work. That is why technical support is not just about computers. It is about ensuring people can complete their tasks without unnecessary delays. 

"You come to work and never know what awaits you today.  One department has one issue, another has something completely different. You constantly communicate with people, troubleshoot, and help. That is exactly what I enjoy," says Oksana. 

Over the years, she has learned to understand not only the technical aspects of processes. To properly configure software or help a colleague, you often need to first understand how the department itself operates and what a specific tool is needed for. That is why Oksana calls constant communication with people one of the main sources of her professional experience. 

Within the department, she works predominantly with a male team. She says she appreciates straightforward communication, mutual understanding, and a shared approach to work. Tasks within the team are not strictly divided: whoever is available at the time takes on the request, and the result depends on collective responsibility. 

Outside of work, the technical world gives way to something entirely different. Oksana does a lot of embroidery — paintings, icons, shirts.  Right now, for example, she is finishing an embroidered shirt (vyshyvanka) for her husband. Another passion of hers is cooking. "When I cook, I relax and recharge.  I love finding old, traditional recipes and trying to recreate them," she says. 

Another long-standing family tradition is outdoor trips.  When the children were younger, the family could simply pack their tents after work on a Friday and head off for a day or two into the forest or to the river to pick mushrooms and berries.  The children have grown up now, but the habit remains: when the weather is good, Oksana is happy to swap her computer and office for the forest, the river, and a night in a tent.
