Ukrnafta surveys 1,211 sq km, refines geological models for more efficient drilling

Ukrnafta is using the results of its 3D seismic surveys to improve the accuracy of geological decisions and drilling efficiency.

“The total survey area over the past two years has reached 1,211 sq km: 582 sq km in 2024, including Ukraine’s first wireless seismic survey, and 629 sq km in 2025. The work was carried out across nine fields and two areas,” said Bogdan Kukura, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “Ukrnafta”. “The data obtained have already been integrated into geological models and drilling programmes. I would like to thank the team for its systematic work and the effective implementation of modern geological exploration technologies.”

Based on the completed stages of processing and interpretation of 3D seismic data at three fields and one area:

• geological models have been refined, with new promising areas and blocks identified for the drilling of new wells

• based on an updated geological and hydrodynamic model at one field, the placement of new planned wells was adjusted

• one of the planned wells has already been drilled and brought on stream with a high flow rate, with three more wells scheduled to be drilled there by the end of 2026 and a further two in 2027

• at another field, an exploratory well has been planned

This approach makes it possible to take decisions based on more accurate data, reduce geological risks and improve the efficiency of investment in production.
