1,330 km² of 3D seismic in three years: that’s the scale of the work Ukrnafta has carried out to expand its resource base and enhance the accuracy of geological modelling.
One of the company’s key strategic objectives is to increase hydrocarbon reserves.
To achieve this, Ukrnafta is investing in modern geophysical surveys that enable the identification of new prospective reservoirs and more effective drilling planning.
“In 2025, the total area of 3D seismic amounts to approximately 750 km²,” noted Yuriy Tkachuk, Acting Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “Ukrnafta”. “The field phase has already been completed at two fields, one more is in progress, and surveys at three new sites are planned by year-end. This is a consistent work that ensures long-term production stability and Ukraine’s energy resilience.”
Ukrnafta became the first company in Ukraine to apply wireless 3D seismic technology in mountainous terrain.
This approach allows work in complex geological settings, minimises environmental impact, shortens the duration of field operations, and delivers higher-precision geophysical data.
The results form the basis of digital geological and hydrodynamic models that help forecast production dynamics and support grounded technical decisions.
In 2026, the company will continue 3D seismic across the most prospective fields.
