Anastasiia Voitovych is from Kirovohrad region. She came to Kyiv to study and has lived here ever since.
After enrolling at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Anastasiia chose to specialise in geology. She says she was looking for a field that would combine natural sciences with practical work. She became interested after hearing the faculty’s presentation about the speciality: field practice, expeditions, research and the opportunity to work directly with nature.
During her studies, Anastasiia undertook field practice every year. One of her strongest memories is spending more than a month in Crimea, near Bakhchysarai. There, students were introduced to different areas of geology, including hydrogeology, geophysics and geochemistry.
She gained her first professional experience in the industry while still studying for her master’s degree, working at the private company SPK “Geoservice”. She later continued her career at the Research and Production Enterprise “Centre for Oil and Gas Resources”, and after maternity leave joined the UKRNAFTA team. Anastasiia has now been with the company for two years.
Today, she is part of the Geological Study Department and works in the Field Hydrodynamic Modelling Division. Her work is related to modelling development targets at UKRNAFTA fields and assessing prospective areas to increase the company’s hydrocarbon resource base.
According to our colleague, geologists, together with seismic and geophysical specialists, play an important role in the company’s work. They help understand the structure of the subsurface, assess the prospects of targets, determine the studies required and develop well-founded conclusions on the further development of fields.
Outside work, Anastasiia recharges most by spending time in nature. Together with her husband and two children, she tries to spend weekends outside the city or in scenic corners of Kyiv. Sometimes, however, the best form of rest is simple things at home: time with family, cooking and quiet activities that help her switch off after a busy working week.
