“Ukrnafta’s” Security Service Uncovers Illegal Tie-In in the Sumy Region

As part of routine preventive measures at the Velykobubnivske field operated by the Okhtyrkanaftogaz Oil and Gas Production Division, PJSC “Ukrnafta’s” security service uncovered an illegal tie-in at a wellhead.

The unauthorized connection involved a welded metal nut with a ball valve, to which a high-pressure rubber hose approximately 4 meters long was attached. This hose was connected to a 450-meter plastic pipe leading to a buried metal container—about 10 cubic meters in volume—located on the premises of an abandoned farm in the village of Viunne, Romny district.

“Ukrnafta’s” security team responded immediately, taking the necessary steps to neutralize the illegal tie-in. Officers from the Romny District Police Department of the Chief Department of the National Police in the Sumy Region documented the incident on site.

Investigative efforts are currently underway to assess the damage and identify those responsible.

Ukrnafta remains committed to protecting its infrastructure and upholding state interests by proactively identifying and preventing illegal activity at its facilities.
