PJSC Ukrnafta has spudded its first well of 2016 as per the recently submitted business plan.  It will be completed as a short horizontal wellbore (~200 m) targeting a high permeability horizon in Verhnemaslovetskiy oilfield in Lviv region.  The well is expected to be placed on production in mid-2016 with an estimated initial production rate of approximately 50 t/d.  The current well is building upon the recent success of the very first horizontal well drilled in the region, which targeted a different productive horizon in the same field.

If this new well proves successful, at least another 5 horizontal wells are planned for this area of the field which will provide much needed investment into the revival of mature oilfields in this region, increase the recovery factor, grow the reserves base, and support Ukrnafta’s growth strategy.
