The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has launched procurement procedures for gas-fired power plants under a loan and donor agreement with PJSC “Ukrnafta” on its own electronic platform.

This is an open tender with one stage. Bids from suppliers will be accepted until January 27, 2025.

“Two procurements have been announced. The first one is for the supply of gas engine power plants and cogeneration units for 3 facilities. These are large power plants. The total installed power capacity is about 70 MW. The second procurement is announced for the supply of power plants with gas engines in containers. In fact, these are modular plants that can be moved depending on the needs. The total power capacity is about 56 MW. “Both lots also include the main auxiliary equipment and related services”, explains Sergii Koretskyi, CEO at UKRNAFTA. - “The procurement through the EBRD platform means that the highest standards of competitive selection, transparency and integrity will be met”.

This is the first stage of implementation of distributed generation projects at PJSC “Ukrnafta”. After procurement of the equipment, procedures will be launched to procure the services of contractors who will carry out all the necessary construction and installation work.

Overall, the company plans to manufacture, supply and install gas engine power plants by 2025. 

In the face of ongoing Russian attacks on the energy system of Ukraine, new generating capacity will be an important element in ensuring energy resilience.

The project is financed by an EBRD loan, co-financed by investment grants from the Netherlands, the United States and the Kingdom of Norway, as well as a special technical cooperation grant.
