Ukrnafta is transforming decades of experience into cutting-edge AI-driven solutions, actively integrating machine learning technologies into Ukrainian oil and gas production.
For decades, the company has been gathering and storing data on Ukraine’s subsoil resources. These vast datasets embody the collective knowledge of thousands of experts — reflecting their challenges, setbacks, breakthroughs, and the valuable experience they’ve gained along the way.
Today, Ukrnafta is leveraging neural network models to process large data sets, automate routine tasks, and optimize the resolution of complex geological and engineering challenges.
To further advance the development of AI technologies and ensure a systematic approach to integrating global innovation into its research and engineering processes, Ukrnafta has established a dedicated Innovation Technologies Department within its Research and Design Institute.
Ukrnafta has developed three groundbreaking solutions to optimize its operations:
- Determination of rock permeability coefficients
- Automatic linking of well logging curves
- Recognition of geophysical curves on scanned materials for subsequent digitization
To train these models, the company utilized a wealth of data accumulated from core material research, including datasets for 575 wells, and scanned geophysical logging data collected from 1953 to 2018 across various fields.
These innovations are built upon the concepts and methodologies used by the world’s leading oil and oilfield service companies. Ukrnafta’s specialists carefully study scientific research and adapt the best global practices to meet the company’s specific production needs.
This approach allows to integrate the most advanced technologies into its business processes, strengthening its position as an industry leader.
