Ukrnafta Holds Joint Exercises of its Emergency Response Divisions

On 6-10 June, joint exercises of Poltava militarized Emergency Response Division of Ukrnafta, Okhtyrka and Poltava oil & gas production divisions, and Okhtyrka drilling operations unit will be held at Ukrnafta’s training ground at Rybalske field (Sumy region, Okhtyrka district, village Khukhra).

The objective of the training is to improve emergency response skills of the operational staff of Poltava militarised Emergency Response unit as well as test and improve procedures and methods of eliminating complex situations in toxic and highly explosive environments, which may occur at Ukrnafta’s hydrocarbon production facilities. These exercises, which have not been held for several years, will help improve the level of labor safety, industrial safety and environmental protection in the Company. Training will take place under extreme conditions designed to simulate emergency situations, such as, uncontrolled hydrocarbon release, asset fires, and toxic gas releases. Rescue units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine will also participate in these exercises.

Uncontrolled oil and gas blowouts are the most complicated accidents in the oil and gas industry. Successful liquidation of such emergencies requires special equipment, devices, and disciplined procedures. Poltava Emergency Response unit has elaborate and modern emergency response equipment to enable successful liquidation of hazardous hydrocarbon discharge, blowouts, and fires. This equipment will be used for Emergency Response in Ukrnafta operations. During the training, the Company will present its own technical achievements. Such events are primarily geared towards qualitative preparation of emergency teams to neutralize possible natural and industrial emergencies at oil/gas companies as well as to ensure high professionalism and constant readiness of rescue personnel.
