Ukrnafta has achieved a remarkable milestone by increasing its daily well production rate by 25 times following a hydraulic fracturing process. This has resulted in the establishment of the company’s most productive well to date, boasting a production of 103 tons per day in oil equivalent.

In May 2024, a well located in the North-East of Ukraine underwent a hydraulic fracturing process.

The operation was executed by Takrom Ukraine LLC, the contractor that presented the most favorable terms at the Prozorro tender.

The fracturing process involved the injection of 210 cubic meters of fluid and 54 tons of propane.

“As a result, the well, which was previously producing 4.1 tons per day using a rod submersible pump, started flowing,” Sergii Koretskyi, CEO at UKRNAFTA states. “The flow rate now stands at 73 tons of oil and 35 thousand cubic meters of gas per day, or 103 tons in oil equivalent.”

In the first two weeks of operation alone, four classic gel-propane hydraulic fracturing operations at other wells yielded an additional cumulative production of 300 tons of oil.

Furthermore, by the end of May, 12 acid fracturing operations were carried out on 10 wells at Ukrnafta’s field in western Ukraine. Specialists from the Field Development Department utilized an enhanced mud recipe and a combination of their own fleet and rented special equipment.

Consequently, the additional cumulative production from hydraulic fracturing and acid hydraulic fracturing over a span of 5 months amounted to 8941 tons of oil. The operations boasted a success rate of 93%, and the average flow rate increase was 4.
