Ukrnafta Implements Circular Economy Principles in Its Operations

Focusing on technologies that reduce environmental impact and carbon footprint is crucial for a modern company operating in resource extraction and planning to reach the level of global benchmarks.

Therefore, Ukrnafta's production strategy is based on the principles of sustainable development. In particular, it includes the gradual introduction of energy-efficient technologies, reduction of emissions, and preservation of ecosystems.

This applies first and foremost to brownfields: it is both environmentally and economically feasible to work on existing fields to improve production efficiency and exploit the reserves there.

On the sidelines of the eighth international scientific and practical conference "Subsoil Use in Ukraine. Investment Prospects", Ukrnafta specialists shared their experience in re-evaluating oil and gas fields, which the company has carried out more than 70 times since 2000.

Iryna Fediv, Deputy Head of Ukrnafta's Reserves Estimation Department, explained how the company selects projects to be developed in the future and what key geological indicators and conditions can lead to a field reassessment.

The company is now actively detailing the resources within the existing special permits to understand how to develop them further and where to drill new wells.

For example, the first 3D seismic survey in Ukraine using a wireless data acquisition system is planned for the Western Region, which will allow the Company to evaluate the existing resources. Similar surveys will be conducted in other regions of the country where Ukrnafta operates.
