JSC “Ukrnafta” and JSC “Ukrgasvydobuvannya” have jointly completed the drilling of a gas well at one of Ukrnafta’s fields. 

The project, implemented as part of cooperation between the two state-owned Naftogaz Group companies, marks the first practical step in developing internal cooperation aimed at increasing natural gas production in Ukraine. 

Under the project:

∙ JSC “Ukrgasvydobuvannya” carried out the drilling using its own drilling rig.

∙ JSC “Ukrnafta” is responsible for the subsequent completion and operation of the well. 

The well reached a total depth of 5,681 metres. 

“Increasing domestic gas production is one of our key priorities. Synergy within the Group allows us to use resources more efficiently and accelerate project delivery,” said Naftogaz Group CEO Sergii Koretskyi. 

“This is Ukrnafta’s first joint project with Ukrgasvydobuvannya. We have tested a model of cooperation between the companies and achieved a practical result that provides a basis for scaling up this type of cooperation in the future,” said Bogdan Kukura, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “Ukrnafta”. 

“The provision by Ukrgasvydobuvannya of services aimed at the efficient use of its drilling rig fleet to increase hydrocarbon production for the state is a strategically important area of development. It strengthens Ukraine’s energy security and also establishes a new practice of successful cooperation within Naftogaz Group,” said Yurii Tkachuk, CEO of JSC “Ukrgasvydobuvannya”. 

The well is currently at the completion stage. The drilling rig will next be used to drill further wells at Ukrnafta’s fields.
